How to Track Down The Best Deals
Getting the best deal on anything can be time consuming and hard work if you don’t know where to look. There are several ways to find great deals and if you take the time to combine them you’re guaranteed the item you want at the lowest possible price. So how do you track down the top deals available?
Use shopbots or comparison sites
Depending on what it is you’re looking for you can use the services of a shopbot or a price comparison site. Shopbots list the top retailers of the items you key into their search facility so that you have a complete list of prices and retailers. These websites are aimed at general household items such as clothes, shoes, household goods etc. rather than utility providers, mortgage providers and other financial products. For these types of deals you can use a price comparison website, such as the BUYability comparison engine. You enter your details and what it is you’re looking for e.g. a personal loan, mortgage, credit card etc. and the comparison site lists the best deals for you as an individual. You can then choose the offers you’re interested in and view further details.
Visit the retailer’s home website
An alternative to using shopbots and comparison sites is to visit the websites of the individual companies you’re interested in. So for example, if you want to buy a new PC then you might visit the websites of PC World, Currys and any local retailers you might know. It isn’t unusual for specialist companies, and especially the large electrical retailers, to have ‘internet specials’ that aren’t available anywhere except the website. In fact, people have been known to buy a product from a PC World store and then find it cheaper on the website as an internet special. You can even order the items online for the lower price and then go and collect them in store an hour later!
Visit the stores themselves
In order to get the best deals it is sometimes wise to visit the retailer’s stores in person as well as searching through their website. Businesses will occasionally have clearance sales on certain items and it may be that these bargains aren’t advertised on their websites – especially if they have limited stock or they expect the stock to go within a day or two. Display models in electrical stores are a great example of this and you can often pick up quality bargains just because the item has been sat on the shelf for a few months. All they require is a bit of dusting in most cases and at worst they may have a few scratches or knocks.
These are just a few of the ways to ensure you get the best deal from most retailers. You should visit the stores personally to check for clearance items first and then trawl the internet to find alternative retailers if you don’t find what you’re looking for in the first instance. Whichever method you choose you’re bound to find the best deal for you and if this saves you money then so much the better.
