Being Promiscuous & Playing Hard to Get
Very few people realise that their frame of mind while out shopping makes a big difference to the possible discounts and savings they can get on certain products. For example promiscuity with regards to shopping can leave you with lots of lovely items but an equal amount of not so lovely bills as well. Playing hard to get however might swing you a few discounts or special offers, especially if you look like you’re just about to leave and go elsewhere. So, are you promiscuous or are you good at playing hard to get when it comes to your shopping habits?
Promiscuous People
Promiscuous people love to shop and more often than not they easily give in to their ‘Got To Have It’ impulses. They see something they want and they buy it without even thinking of looking elsewhere or seeing if there’s the possibility of a discount. This type of person hates the hassle of shopping around and when they make their mind up about wanting something they gladly pay over the odds to have it there and then.
There are millions of promiscuous shoppers in the UK and the retailers absolutely love them. While it’s nice that they can go out and buy whatever they see it’s also a big drain on their finances and in a lot of cases promiscuous shoppers could easily save hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds each year by simply holding back, having a bit of patience and researching the market…and that’s exactly what ‘playing hard to get’ shoppers do.
Playing Hard to Get People
This type of shopper is much more aware of prices and they will gladly shop around if there is the possibility of finding what they want somewhere else for cheaper. They also like to haggle and aren’t embarrassed about asking for a discount – after all you never know unless you ask. In a shop or store, ‘playing hard to get’ shoppers will make a point of saying where they can find a better deal in the hope of being offered a matching deal and in a lot of cases this method of haggling works for them.
Not surprisingly, ‘playing hard to get’ shoppers are a rarer breed however they are becoming much more common as the current credit crunch hits home. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for discounts on goods and services or with mentioning other shops that are offering better deals. Hesitation when buying is also a trait of the ‘playing hard to get’ shopper and this small aspect of their shopping demeanour is often rewarded with some kind of incentive from the retailer – especially at the end of the month when they need to hit their sales targets.
Promiscuous shoppers should try going out with a ‘playing hard to get’ frame of mind and see where it gets them. At worst it will get them nowhere but at best it could save them a great deal of money while also giving them a great feeling of achievement.
